Public Safety
Public Safety Liaison to serve as an intermediary between the Philadelphia Police Department, District Attorney’s Office, Family Court, and the Department of Probation and Parole and the Philadelphia Gun Court to address the issue of crime and juvenile delinquency.

This point person will also serve as the point person for the Second Chance Clinic that will assist Ex Offenders returning to our communities.

Gun Free Playground Zones which increase penalties for gun offenses which take place within 10 feet of Public Play grounds

According to the Philadelphia Police Department there were over 20 shootings and 10 deaths within Philadelphia Playgrounds

Brighter Day Community Lights Initiative which seeks to provide funding for providing lights throughout the community which serves as a key deterrent to crime.

Increase funding for programs such as the Adolescent Violence Reduction Program which provides Case Managers for troubled youth.

Curfew Center support which has deduced the truancy level

Education
Education 1st Task Force established to create a partnership between parents, the School District of Philadelphia, and the School Reform Commission to provide support for the following schools that do not meet adequately yearly progress: Vare Middle School, McDaniel Elementary School, Sayre Middle School, South Philadelphia High, Bok High School, Pierce Middle School.

The purpose of the Task Force is to target social services and support services and increase the graduation rate for “At-Risk” youth who are prone to drop out of school.
According to Project U Turn, 15% in South Philadelphia and 15% in South West Philadelphia with a total of 30% of the overall 85% of youth drop out of school between 8th and 9th grades.

Establish the 186th Brighter Day Young Scholars Fund to partner with local Corporate Non Profits and Corporations to match Professionals Career Coaches with students as an incentive to stay in school.

Support of Early Head Start Funding to assist children in obtaining a “Head Start” in receiving a quality education.

Home Ownership and Community Inclusion Initiative
Host tri monthly district wide Homeownership and Real Estate Development Forums
The forum will inform residents the issues surrounding Home Foreclosures, Tax Abatements, and the Real Estate Assessment Process.

Jobs
Brighter Day Careers Now Initiative
Appoint a staff person to serve as the Career Training and Development Liaison to establish Public/Private Partnerships to work with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry and local businesses and corporations to recruit job training and employment opportunities. The staff person will establish (2) Annual Career Fairs to assist residents in obtaining employment.

Senior Citizens Support Services
Create legislation that will assist Grand Parents that are raising other family members children.

Advocate for increase support of Medicaid and Rent Rebate programs
